Matt Gaillet is a Los Angeles based photographer and art director with deep roots in midcoast Maine. Often working in 35mm, his work is gritty, seductive, and effortlessly delicious. The glazed looks of his characters, with nothing to do, nowhere to go, and permanently on vacation, create an aspiration in the viewer, not of wealth and consumption, but of wanderlust, and night swims. His work has been seen in Vogue, Paper, NYT, Interview, Playboy and has helped countless brands find an authentic voice in an age of digital noise.
Matt serves on contract as Photo Art Director for T.C.E.C. a Los Angeles apparel wholesale brand. Matt is also a photo assistant on Ellen Von Unwerth’s Los Angeles team, and a photo assistant and/or digital tech to photographers Hector Clark, Richie Tallboy, Thom Kerr, Kiyana Tehrani, Pieter Henket, Christian Ferretti and others.
